WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS,
GUEST PRESENTATION:
Stan Wilson, Booster Club
President introduced himself and had each attendee introduce themselves to
Christine Hall, a representative of Pleasant Hill Park and Recreation. Christine then gave a brief history of
the Pleasant Hill Park and Rec. role in the scheduling and use of College Park
and Pleasant Hill Middle School pools.
She emphasized their recreational water polo program (Devil Mountain
Junior Devils, 5th Ð 8th graders) and its need for the
use of the YV water polo goals located at the Pleasant Hill Middle School pool. She disclosed that Pleasant Hill Park
and Rec. paid for half of the new College Park goals, but did not offer any
financial compensation for the YV goals.
Concern was expressed by the board members about the security issues
surrounding the issue of giving out keys to the padlock used to secure the
goals each night. Because the
goals were new this year and were considered an irreplaceable item, an offer
was made that the Pleasant Hill Park and Rec. water polo program use the
refurbished goals that were not chained on the pool deck. Christine agreed to use these goals and
agreed that the YV swimmers would be able to use the swim blocks and lane ropes
this spring. A motion was made and
seconded that the Pleasant Hill Park and Rec. Devil Mountain team could use the
refurbished goals. Christine then
left the meeting.
The minutes of the August
meeting were passed out to all board members. The motion was made, seconded and the vote approved the
August minutes as submitted.
The TreasurerÕs Report was
passed out by Linda Wiley. Our
current balance is $44,477.00.

Fund, $4,920.00 from Membership dues, $915.65 from Escrip, $30.87 from interest,
and $3,003.00 from Spirit Wear sales.
Checks issued from Aug. 12 Ð Oct. 6 include $700.00 for Crab Feed
refunds, $168.00 for field improvement, $10.00 for incorporation expenses,
$500.47 for insurance, $22.97 for office supplies, $900.00 for professional
accounting fees, $3,198.97 for Spirit Wear, $206.55 for the Volleyball
team. It was noted that there was
$19,295.70 in the Field Improvement fund.
A motion was made to approve the TreasurerÕs Report was seconded and
accepted.
SITE
COUNCIL: Julie Kaufman, the Site Council Representative gave a
brief review of the most recent Site Council Meeting. Topics included the use of hand-held cameras on campus for
security by supervisors. The Math
Department lost three teachers and the Spanish Department still needs one
teacher. The Homecoming game and
dance on Oct. 9th were also discussed. The Runathon on Oct. 16th was mentioned as well
as concern about a YV student who lost everything in a fire. Donations are needed to help this
family out. The next Site Council
meeting is on Oct. 11th.
ESCRIP: Rob
Kinnard, the Escrip Representative gave an update on Escrip members. There were 30 new signups at walk-thru
registration, while 55 families still need to switch over or be added. This will be a 40% increase in
membership. However, we probably
will not see an increase in funds until January because Safeway is 3-4 months
behind in deposits. We hope to get
an additional $100.00-$200.00 each month.
The proposed $100.00 prize will not be awarded until the next meeting in
hopes to reward on of the 55 families that change over.
MEMBERSHIP: Debbie
Vaticano reported that 146 student families had joined the Athletic Boosters
although some of these may be doubles.
However, she emphasized that this was a larger starting figure than last
year. Last year we had 160
families as booster members by the end of the year. Water polo girls only had 3 families who had not joined and
the boys only had 4.
RUN
A THON: Cathy Wayne reported on the upcoming Runathon scheduled for
Oct. 16th. Radio
station 94.9 cannot come so Cathy hired the same DJ used at the Crab Feed last
year. A BBQ will be held from
12:00 until 2:00 and a special recognition award will be presented to Safeway
for the much appreciated support and contributions. The Marching Band will also participate at the
runathon. Expected expenses for
food, DJ, the Safeway plaque, etc. are estimated around $1,200.00.
FIELD
IMPROVEMENT/TRACK: Cathy Wayne reported that the current
Field Improvement budget was $19,295.70.
She hopes to raise between $45,000-$50,000 to pay for architectural
drawings, electrical work, state fees, permit fees, and to buy a new score
board. Nancy Butterfield is
reviewing different types of scoreboards and their costs. It was emphasized that we wanted to get
a top-of-the-line score board that will last the school for many years. Cathy, Mr. Balestrieri, and other
committee members met with the district field improvement representatives and
discussed the new Òall-weatherÓ track and football field renovations. Renovations include a top of the line
field, lights, score board, sprinkler system run off itÕs own well, and a 4
foot fence around the perimeter.
Lights are not thought to present as big of an issue now to the community. Cindy Graffort hopes to use the field
improvements as positive advertisement in the community and in conjunction with
gaining sponsors for the Crab Feed.
