MINUTES OF THE Ygnacio Valley HS Athletic Boosters, Inc.

MEETING OF June 7, 2006

A CALIFORNIA NONPROFIT PUBLIC CORPORATION

A general meeting of the YVHS Athletic Boosters, Inc. was held on June 7, 2006 at 5:15 p.m. in Walnut Creek, California for the purpose of a monthly meeting. Don Morrison, Vice-President, called the meeting to order. The meeting was held at Rocco’s Ristorante, located on Ygnacio Valley Rd. Written notice of this meeting was sent via email and announced on the web site to all general members of record on the books of the corporation at such time and with such contents as required by the Bylaws of the corporation.

Four out of six active Board Members were present, constituting a full quorum. There are three current vacancies: President, Webmaster, and Spirit Wear Coordinator. There will be two more vacancies after this meeting: Secretary and Site Council Representative.

APPROVAL OF PAST MINUTES

The Minutes of the May 3, 2006 meeting were passed out to all board members. The motions was made, seconded, and the vote approved the May minutes.

TREASURER’S REPORT

Jim Davis submitted the Treasurer’s Report as of June 6, 2006 (see attached). The ending balance is $74,557.46, with $35,000 committed funds and $6,000 owed to the Boosters. The motion was made, seconded and the board approved the Treasurer’s Report as it stands.

OLD BUSINESS

SITE COUNCIL – Julie Kaufman reported on the May 8, 2006 meeting. See attached notes.

ESCRIP – No report.

MEMBERSHIP – No report.

TRACK/FIELD UPDATE – Mario Balestrieri reported that the field should be done by the end of June. The track is going down today (6/7/06).

NEW BUSINESS:

REQUESTS FROM TEAMS –

• Coach Davis submitted a request for a $12,000 loan for football camp at Sonoma State (see attached), to pay the printer for the fundraiser cards, and for shirts. $5,000 of which to be paid back on June 15, 2006, and the balance of $7,000 to be paid back the week of August 28^th. Linda Van Brunt will act as “treasurer” for the football team to keep track of payments from individual players, and then pay back the Boosters in a lump sum. The Board voted to approve the loan.
• Coach Vaserhely had a request for the Boosters to pay for a new batting cage net for softball. The Board voted to approve the request, which will be for approximately $400. The bill will be sent directly to the Athletic Boosters.

ROUND TABLE:

Marci Jones will present the YVAB Senior Athlete Awards at the assembly on June 8, 2006. A $100 scholarship check will be given to one senior boy, and one senior girl that the board has voted to receive the award. The award winner must be a member of the Athletic Boosters and the voting is based on athletic participation and sportsmanship, as well as, leadership qualities and overall contribution to YV.

The Board voted and approved doing a separate newsletter with the PTSA and Music Boosters during the school year. The cost would be approximately $300.

New benches were ordered for the P.E. dept.

Mario asked for feedback on the way the Sports Awards nights are handled. Some teams want to have their own individual events. Further discussion was recommended when the new school year starts.

Items to discuss at Aug. 2^nd meeting: Walk-thru/Registration, Oct. 27^th Homecoming events (tailgating, etc.)

The next Athletic Booster meeting is scheduled for Sept. 6, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in the library at Ygnacio Valley High School.

There was no further business and the meeting was adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
